Hasselt University is a university with campuses in Hasselt and Diepenbeek, Belgium. It was founded in 1971, as the Limburgs Universitair Centrum (LUC). On June 15, 2005 the university changed its name to Hasselt University.

Currently, the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht work together as the Transnational University Limburg (tUL) for studies in IT and Biomedical Sciences.
Located in the heart of the Euregion, Hasselt and its university are truly international. Hasselt is situated about one hour driving form cities such as Brussels, Antwerp and Aachen (Germany), and is very near to Liège and Maastricht (the Netherlands).
Hasselt University is situated on the campus of Diepenbeek (a small town near Hasselt), which occupies an attractive 150 acre site in the middle of Limburg's green belt. Hasselt University is expanding towards Hasselt, the capital of Limburg, which has a population of almost 70,000 and is the administrative and commercial centre of the province.
